After graduating from high school, Kevin McShane knew he still had a chance to better his recruiting situation. So instead of immediately walking on somewhere or accepting a Division II scholarship, the growing 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward went directly from Jesuit High School to a greyshirt at Clackamas Community College. There he continued to attract attention with his size and developing skills, and after looking at several different options McShane decided to go where his heart has always been.
