Cam McCormick is hot. In a wordSuper-heated. The youngster from Bend. Oregon just hung up the helmet after a great Junior season and laced up his high tops and the phones started ringing leading to Boise State, Arizona, and Oregon all offering him a football scholarship.
What makes a kid like this heat up so fast?

Every year we have 2 or 3 athletes that move up to the top of the ranks really fast and grab these early big time offers.

While a top level hoops talent his football skills are even better. Cam McCormick has offers and interest on the rise.
It always comes down to the fact they offer big time schools like Oregon the entire package. Over everything else is speed. You either have it or your not there yet. Cam has it and has proven that through film and his 11.3 100 Meter time. He is 6’5″and is such a great recruit in all the other categories. Now a leader in the 2016 recruiting class Cameron took a few minutes to react to the offer.
“I got a message from my Defensive Line Coach Neil Elshire to call him and that he said the Ducks needed to speak to me. I contacted Coach Greatwood at Oregon . Coach Greatwood said they wanted to offer me and I was speechless,” said Cam. “I was presently surprised.”
The 6’5″- 225 lb Junior from Summit High is very fortunate to have the coaches he has. Drew Beldsoe, Kevin Boss, and Neil Elshire were all amazing College and NFL players and Elshire was a Duck and a damn good one. We think of schools like Jesuit and Lake Oswego and Central Catholic as having connections to the next level where High School kids get some extra help to make it to college. Right now it looks like the Summit HS staff is the most connected in the Region and that is a great thing for the kids in Bend.
“I spoke to Coach Greatwood and Coach Osborne and the discussion was about coming to play at Oregon and what position,” Cam added. “I told them I will play either side but I like that Tight End spot.”
He is being looked at for Outside Linebacker where he is a natural fit and Tight End. But if Steve Greatwood is involved, one of the best O-line coaches in the Nation, he might have some say as well. The fact is he has the #2 school in the Nation in his corner and they want Cam to be in Yellow and Green in 2017.
“Of course Oregon will be at the top of my list. They are #2 in the Nation and just an incredible program. But the other schools all have things I really like too so I will be making some visits and seeing each school up close and my hope is I will have a firm decision by August so my recruitment is done and I can focus on the season.”
Arkansas, OSU, WSU, UW and CU Boulder are all in the hunt.
“Right now we are #1 in the State in 5A Basketball and are 5-0. This is a great team and I think we can have one heck of a season on the hardwoods,” concluded McCormick who set the school record with 23 rebounds a couple of nights back.
He joins LaMar Winston Jr. (Central Catholic), Brady Breeze (CC-Oregon commit), Ronnie Rust (CC), and Conner Crist (Tigard Linemen) as guys at the top of the 2015 Oregon Recruiting list.
