What would it take for a big athlete with great hands from a small town like Hillsboro, Oregon to get noticed by a program like Boise State?

After all Glencoe High Schools Hayden Plinke had no stars until Fall and even now he is only a two star athlete.
But Plinke did one thing that made the difference for him and for Boise State who offered him a scholarship over the weekend.
He decided to press on to Boise's Summer Camp while some of his Oregon peers went to other camps. He went with little fanfare and the Bronco's did not know who he was.
By the end of camp they did and that led up to this weekends events.
"I still can not believe it. Coach Peterson brought me into his office and offered me. This is like a dream come true for me. I am 100% a Bronco now," said a gushing Plinke.
He ties that offer and his good fortune directly to his attendance of Boise camp.
"They said they liked me then and that they had kept an eye on me all year. The thing that they like the most is my character and the fact that I bring a lot to the table as a person. The star ratings and all that is something they said made no difference to them."
He is right. Boise has built that program around lesser talent but high character and have been able to mold that into a cohesive team that plays together to win.
"It is a grey shirt offer for the Tight End Spot so I wont enroll until a year from January. But I am 225 pounds right now and that will give me time to come in at maybe 240 and be ready to play," added Hayden.
Plinke is quick and has great hands and as an athlete he could play a few different positions on offense or defense.
These are just the sort of guys that Boise State likes.
Boise has QB Grant Hedrick of Central High in Independence, Oregon in the system now and RB Malcolm Johnson of Sam Barlow High in Gresham.
Recruiting in Oregon continues to be an important pipeline for the Broncos and Plinke will likely add to that Legacy.
Hayden could not be happier and concluded with this.
"What a great way to start the Christmas Holiday. I am so honored and thankful."
