Saxon Big Man Makes His Mark With Viks Offer

Big Man Jake Withnell has outstanding size, and the athletic ability to be a Division one athlete. The question many were asking is which Collegiate program would take notice? With Oregon and Oregon State both Nationally ranked programs it is hard to get an instate offer from them.
So it was Portland State that took notice this week and offered the (6-5, 225 TE/LB) from South Salem.

Jake says, "it was great to get the first offer". He was excited that Coach Nigel Burton and staff took notice.
He was named a Unanimous First Team all league linebacker this past season, but he excelled this past week at Tight End.
One of Withnell's biggest assets is the fact he could play on either side of the ball at the next level. It's got to be nice for Coach Burton to have that option.
South Salem is looking tough with 4 potential all state kids..Withnell, Maximo Espitia Jr. (6-3 205 Jr.) WR/LB who is one of the State's top receivers, Jake Fohn (5-8 170 Sr.) RB-1st team all league, and Levi Rayburn (6-3 295 OL Sr.) All League Linemen 08', 09'.
The Saxon's open the season on the road against traditionally tough South Medford and Thurston. They Follow that up with two brutal games at home against Canby and West Salem.
We will know very quickly how good the Saxons are.
There should be a variety of interests from Big Sky Schools for big Jake. PAC 10 programs definitely know what Jake is capable of too.
You can't coach 6'-5" and athletic so he's most definitely a commodity. It will be fun to watch a little football down in the capital this fall.
